Another example of Shade military technology, the KER/BE/RUS is a portable multipurpose weapon system combining three separate mechanisms.
Like most known Shade implements the KER/BE/RUS is of bulky and extremely heavy design, weighting in at 32 kg.
Of the component weapons the Kinetic Energy Rifle is the most basic, a magnetic accelerator weapon firing metallic ammunition with a selective burst-fire option providing a modicum of stopping power with good armour penetration at extended ranges.
The directed energy Beam Emitter carried a much higher potential for tissue damage, but was easily defeated by ceramic armour and other defensive features.
The Ranged Ultra Sound system finally was meant to shatter rigid armours by setting up destructive harmonics, but suffered from limited range.
Damaged KER/BE/RUS systems, with some or all of their components rendered inoperable, are reasonably common finds, but fully functional weapons are as few and far between as other intact Shade artefacts.
