Choose starting age or determine randomly.
Starting at an age determined by their career and then at intervals also determined by their career, characters need to make aging rolls using a D6. The roll is made at the end of the interval. The first roll is made at 9+ and required rolls decrease by 1 every interval after the first (8+ for the second roll, 7+ for the third, and so on). If the roll is successful, then the character suffers ill effects of aging.
Assume that a newly created character passed all previously required aging rolls without suffering ill effects.
When suffering aging effects, roll a D6 and consult the chart below. The roll is modified by +1 for each previous aging effect the character still suffers from (i.e., which has not been removed through use of Bionics or other means):
| D6 | Result |
| 1-2 | minor aging effect: roll a D6, gain Untrained (1-3) or Ignorant (4-6) |
| 3-5 | major aging effect: roll a D6, gain Slow (1-2), Blind (3-4), or Feeble (5-6) |
| 6 | death from old age (do not roll for Casualty Recovery) |
As for Wounds, multiple aging effects do not stack but each instance must be separately countered (e.g., by the use of Bionics).
Careers and Aging:
| Careers | Initial Aging Roll | Further Aging Rolls |
| Space Marine, Squat Warrior, Squat Guilder | 120+12D6 years | 12D6 years |
| Ratling, Ogryn | 40+4D6 years | 4D6 years |
| Mutant | 8D6 years | 4D6 years, ignore all dice after the first that show the same results (e.g., a roll of 1, 2, 2, 5 would count for 1 + 2 + 5 = 8 years, total) |
| All others | 20+2D6 years | 2D6 years |
