Zwinnian Rearguard Boots
These heavy armoured boots have spread from the drafted martyrs’ battalions of Zwinn to other organisations within the Imperium, which appreciate the unique advantages of the contraptions.
In Dark Heresy and its related Warhammer 40.000 Roleplay games Rogue Trader, Deathwatch, Black Crusade, and Only War, rearguard boots provide 6 points of armour to the legs.
As soon as they are activated by coded transmission from a remote control unit, the boots’ heavy armour plates begin to crush the wearer’s feet and lower legs if they should try to retreat from their assigned positions. At the end of each round, in which the wearer moved, they sufer 1 point of critical Impact damage to the legs (this is treated as critical damage even if the wearer has wounds remaining, accordingly the critical effect worsens by 1 each round in which the wearer moves as long as they did not also suffer critical damage from another source). Once activated, this function of the boots cannot be deactivated again, and after activation the boots cannot be removed until they caused a total of 8 points of critical damage.
Outside the drafted martyrs’ battalions, they are of rare availability.
