Forge World Scheria – Homer in Warhammer 40,000

A Reading from Homer by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema
Homer-a-Day, Day 7: Scheria

Forge World Scheria
Surrounded by roiling semi-permanent warp storms, the forge world of Scheria is almost entirely cut off from the Imperium at large – not to the detriment of Scheria, its inhabitants and the masters of its forges and factories.

Nearly impossible to reach for strangers, Scheria, in its isolation, managed to preserve knowledge, secrets, technologies and techniques which improve the lifes of even its most humble worker to levels bordering on that seen on private pleasure worlds. Further contributing to this wealth are technological marvels such as Alcinous pattern MIUs, Mists of Athena and especially the Phaeacian class star clipper, the construction secrets all of which are retained by Scheria, and which are accorded immeasureable value without.

Indeed, the giant naval yards and the vessels constructed there – not just the renowned star clippers – are Scheria’s greatest pride. The forge world’s defenses, too, are firmly centered on the void of space and the control of the few secret warp corridors affording safe passage to and from Scheria, the exact positions of which are secrets even more closely guarded than the precious schematics of Scheria’s technologies. Between yard workers and naval architects, ship and station crew, armsmen and fleet auxiliaries there are thus few if any inhabitants of Scheria who fail to grasp the basics of piloting spacecraft.

If Scheria is the homeworld of a Dark Heresy (1st edition) character, it counts as a forge world with the following changes:
The character does not gain the “fit for purpose” trait, instead gaining the following three traits: The trait “etiquette” of the noble born, the trait “sheltered upbringing” of the Schola Progenium, and the trait “shipwise” of the void born.

blut_und_glas: […] Homer-a-Day?

Homer-a-Day – one Homer inspired Warhammer 40,000 article per day, for one month. Pure hubris, incited when a stroll through our own archives led first to reexamining the Odysseus Pattern Astartes Greatbow and then to the exchange quoted above.

Don’t uncork what you can’t contain.
