Shooting Galleries (Supplemental Component)
Defense turrets and their specialist weaponry and munitions are scarce, whereas human lives are plentiful and easily replaced. Banking on this simple calculus, these galleries and balconies, open to the void, are intended as fighting platforms from which ranks of armsmen and weapons teams can add their firepower to a ship’s defense, paying the price in blood their ship’s master was unwilling to spent in gelt on more sophisticated defenses.
External: This Component does not require hull space.
Suicidal Defense: The vessel’s turret rating can be increased by +1 for the duration of one Strategic Turn by sending void-suited crew with smallarms and heavy weapons into the galleries, a desperate ploy that will result in the loss of 1d5 Crew Population and 1 Morale. If the component is destroyed or damaged in a Strategic Turn during which it was in use, an additional 1d5-1 Crew Population are lost.
