The Skull of St. Millicent – a treasure for Fading Suns

The Skull of St. Millicent
Millicent, the Wrecker, is a non-canonised saint and the patron of labourers. Her skull is said to possess miraculous powers.

According to legend, Millicent was martyred by being thrown into a giant automated trash compactor. The great rollers, however, were unable to crush her skull and it so brought the whole machine to a grinding halt forvever.

In some versions of the story, the perpetrators are guilders, who wished to publicly execute Millicent as an example to others, because of her great piety and the competition they saw in her honest work. The loss of the compactor robbed them of their unjust source of income.
In other versions, Millicent was thrown into the compactor by pagan idolators who worshipped the machine to stop Millicent from further proselytizing against their false god, while some say, she actually jumped into the idol-compactor of her own free will as a show of faith. The compactor breaking is then seen as proof of the pancreator’s power and led to the pagans converting on the spot.

It is said, that Millicent’s skull will render inoperable any machinery it touches.

Why Fading Suns?
To be honest: Mainly because we wanted to avoid Warhammer 40,000 and SLA Industries already got the relic treatment from us on Day 1.

Loot-a-Day is a month-long German blogging challenge by fellow German blogger Greifenklaue, who was inspired by ArtifactaDay which we ran last August as a counterpoint to RPGaDay in Germany. We followed up on this with two more marathons of daily content about artificial creatures and science-gone-too-far, respectively, and now Greifenklaue seeks to spread the format.
