Fear and Loathing in Los Muertos – new drugs for SLA Industries

drugsSLA Industries is an urban horror rpg, but also the quintessential drugpunk rpg. As professing believers in this truth, blut_und_glas, Hasran, and yandere have been collecting new drugs for SLA Industries for a long time. From these they created the following catalogue of colourful pills and vials.

Cimbal

Cimbal is a reliable and potent Karma stimulant with an excellent safety profile. It is thus being recommended for use by operatives on extended BPNs and surveillance missions.

  • Game Effects: No penalties for tiredness or fatigue for 1 hour, the user is wide awake and alert.
  • Addiction: -1 PHYS per 30 doses.
  • Detox. Effects: +1 rank bad sleeper, +1 rank bad time keeper permanent.
  • Addiction: 3 per day.
  • Stress: 1 AS per 12 continuous doses (Frothers are not affected).
  • Cost: 3c per dose.

Cream

Cream is known mainly as a cheap alternative – or addition – to UV family drugs. It improves motor control and reaction speed of the user for a short time.

  • Game Effects: +1 DEX for 1 hour.
  • Addiction: -1 PHYS per 5 doses.
  • Detox. Effects: -3 DEX for 3 hours.
  • Addiction: 2 per day.
  • Stress: 1 PS (Frothers are not affected).
  • Cost: 4c per dose.

Decadence

Advertised as „liquid peace“ by the Soul Institute, Decadence is a version of an ultra-potent long term anxiolytic successfully tested in the treatment of WarWorld veterans and now optimised for the free operative market.

  • Game Effects: 1 hour comatose state.
  • Addiction: -1 PHYS per dose.
  • Detox. Effects: -10 breaking point permanent.
  • Addiction: 2 per day.
  • Stress: -3 Stress (Frothers are not affected).
  • Cost: 5c per dose.

Gear

Shifting into high Gear.
Fast. Faster. Gear.

  • Game Effects: 3 free phases and -5 on all skill rolls for 1 hour.
  • Addiction: -1 PHYS per dose.
  • Detox. Effects: -1 phase permanent.
  • Addiction: 1 per day.
  • Stress: 1 AS.
  • Cost: 25c per dose.

Godlike

Godlike dramatically increases the healing rate and damage resistance.

  • Game Effects: Damage cut by 75% and you receives no wounds for 30 minutes.
  • Addiction: -2 PHYS per dose.
  • Detox. Effects: If you are not in an hospital under medical support, you die.
  • Addiction: 2 per day.
  • Stress: 4 AS (Frothers are not affected).
  • Cost: 30c per dose.

Haste

Haste is composed of a mixture of different compounds, which quickly transport other substances at their respective sites of effect. Haste is especially effective for UV derivatives, but in some individuals it can also lead to reduced incubation times for some diseases.

  • Game Effects: Drugs used during the duration take instant effect. Duration 12 hours.
  • Addiction: -1 PHYS per 50 doses.
  • Detox. Effects: -1 PHYS permanent.
  • Addiction: Continuous.
  • Stress: 2 PS (Frothers are not affected).
  • Cost: 8c per dose.

Hyper

For a long time Pain Away was the only side of the medal oftSoul Institute/Karma sponsored research into pain. Hyper is the other side of that medal.

  • Game Effects: Extremely enhanced nociception, all penalties due to wounds are increased tenfold for 30 minutes.
  • Addiction: -1 PHYS per 50 doses.
  • Detox. Effects: Chronic pain, causing a permanent penalty like 1 wound.
  • Addiction: 1 per day.
  • Stress: 4 PS due to pain.
  • Cost: 10c per dose.

Jack B Nimble

Jack is the general moniker for a whole group of products, which span the chasm between drugs and biogenetic life. The technology is based on stormer memory programming and makes different motoric or mental abilities available to the drug user, dependant on the exact formulation.
Jack B Nimble is a variant of Jack aimed at gross motor control and coordination.

  • Game Effects: +1 rank in gymnastics and acrobatics for 3 hours, these ranks are cumulative over several doses (but not with existing natural skill ranks).
  • Addiction: -2 PHYS per dose.
  • Detox. Effects: +1 rank psychosis (split personality, compulsion or schizophrenia permanent.
  • Addiction: Continuous.
  • Stress: 4 PS.
  • Cost: 10c per dose.

Muse

Through Muse the voice becomes clear and harmonious. This drug is thus often used by singers.

  • Game Effects: +1 (or +2 if the character posses the Good Speech advantage) to any CHA-based skill rolls as long as speech is involved. Duration 2 hours.
  • Addiction: -1 PHYS per 7 doses.
  • Detox. Effects: Gain 1 rank Bad Speech or lose 1 rank Good Speech permanent.
  • Addiction: 2 per day.
  • Stress: 1 PS (Frothers are not affected).
  • Cost: 7c per dose.

Polygon

An early form of the Karma sponsored concept of „(neuro) chemical computing“, Polygon bridges the gap between man and machine by bringing the user’s thought processes more in tune with Reality Overlay interfaces.

  • Game Effects: +2 on all computer use rolls for 1 hour.
  • Addiction: -1 PHYS per 10 doses.
  • Detox. Effects: -2 CONC, -1 DIA permanent.
  • Addiction: 1 per day.
  • Stress: 1 PS (Frothers are not affected).
  • Cost: 8c per dose.

Rose Red

Rose Red is a preemptivelyy acting anti-trauma drug. This gives it a strong niche even though it is less effective than the more common KickStart and its derivatives.

  • Game Effects: Prevent or negate up to 2 wounds. The effects last for 1 hour.
  • Addiction: -1 PHYS per 8 doses.
  • Detox. Effects: -1 PHYS, -1 HITS permanent.
  • Addiction: Continuous.
  • Stress: 2 AS, 1 PS (Frothers are not affected).
  • Cost: 12c per dose.

Snow White

Taken orally this powder increases perception up to the very edge of the respective life-form’s capability.

  • Game Effects: +4 on all detect rolls for 30 minutes.
  • Addiction: -1 PHYS per dose.
  • Detox. Effects: -1 DIA, -1 CONC permanent.
  • Addiction: Continuous.
  • Stress: 3 AS (Frothers are not affected).
  • Cost: 22c per dose.

Stonecold

This centrally acting substance enhances hand-eye coordination and efficiently surpresses the natural inhibition against killing.

  • Game Effects: No wild shot penalties for 15 minutes.
  • Addiction: -1 PHYS per dose.
  • Detox. Effects: -1 DEX, -1 CONC permanent.
  • Addiction: 3 per day.
  • Stress: 3 PS (Frothers are not affected).
  • Cost: 15c per dose.

Stringiness

This drug is refined from stormer cells and changes the muscle structure of the user. For up to 8 hours, the user experiences an increase in damage resistance, making the drug useful in preparation for long combat missions. Stringiness can also be used in medical applications, though, reanimating dying or comatose operatives.
Indeed, users start to more closely resemble stormers while under the effects of the drug. Why Stringiness also affects stormers themselves is currently unknown.

  • Game Effects: Raises the maximum and current Hit Points by 3 in every location for 8 hours.
  • Addiction: -1 PHYS per 2 doses.
  • Detox. Effects: -4 HITS permanent.
  • Addiction: Continuous.
  • Stress: 1 AS, 2 PS (Frothers are not affected).
  • Cost: 12c per dose.

Stumble

Used to slow an opponent, Stumble is sometimes used for handicap purposes in Contract Killer bouts.

  • Game Effects: -2 DEX, negates all free phases. Duration 2 Hours.
  • Addiction: No addiction.
  • Detox. Effects: No addiction.
  • Addiction: No addiction.
  • Stress: 2 PS (Frothers are not affected).
  • Cost: 10c per dose.

Super Smooth

Initially designed for “lonesome and love hungry Operatives” (V!-Love, sub-department of Karma in their weekly magazine Better Life, Issue #16) Super Smooth’s usage soon became part of the arsenal for (counter-) intelligence missions.

When the beige, creamy substance is being injected it leads to an increase in pheromone production as well as to an improvement in coordination and more fluid movements therefore resulting in a certain grace, a charm of movement.

  • Game Effects: +2 to CHA-based rolls for 12 hour duration.
  • Addiction: -1 PHYS per 6 doses.
  • Detox. Effects: -1 PHYS permanent.
  • Addiction: 1 per day.
  • Stress: 1 AS.
  • Cost: 15c per dose.

Torn

As a depot variant of Chain Torn is meant for „LADdered“ operatives on extended field- or undercover-missions, where the regular application of the regular formulation would not be practical.

  • Game Effects: Stops LAD-rejection for 6 days.
  • Addiction: As Chain and can be taken instead of Chain (but not the other was round).
  • Detox. Effects: -3 STR, DEX, DIA, CONC permanent.
  • Addiction: 1 per 6 days.
  • Stress: -.
  • Cost: 40c per dose.

Zero Sum

Mainly designed for use in the pharmacotherapy of chronic addicts with a known resistance to Flush or as a comedication for better control of symptoms during stationary Flush assissted detoxification in a hospital, the Zero Sum has also demonstrated its value in the field under special circumstances.

  • Game Effects: Ignore all detox. effects for 3 hours.
  • Addiction: -1 PHYS per 8 doses.
  • Detox. Effects: -1 PHYS permanent.
  • Addiction: Continuous.
  • Stress: -1 Stress (Frothers are not affected).
  • Cost: 3c per dose.
