Since 2014, RPGaDay poses daily questions about RPGs in August.
Since 2015, we resist by delivering daily thematic material for RPGs in August.
This year, the theme of the alternate August activity was to be “allies”. Ally-a-Day.
But what is that? The enemy appears to lower their arms. Instead of posing questions, RPGaDay2019 presents single word prompts, suddenly opening a path leading past the About towards the For.
While we do not wish to ignore the hand so offered, neither do we wish to cast out our allies because the enemy for once appears conciliatory.
Neither just RPG-a-Day nor just Ally-a-Day.
Not or, but and.
Not minus. Plus.
Day 5: Space + Allies
Imprisoned by four walls
(to the North, the crystal of non-knowledge
a landscape to be invented
to the South, reflective memory
to the East, the mirror
to the West, stone and the song of silence)

Cam suffers from anterograde amnesia. For the foldship navigator, that also means a loss of the prescience that allows her to fold space, as she can no longer remember where she will have been. She likes oranges. Often she says: “I am like an orange peel” or “I feel peeled.”
Cam’s second half, the foldship Mnemosynth, offers her a projection screen and remembers for her the places they were, are and will be. Images, impressions, and formulas flicker over the surfaces of her navigator’s cradle with the memories and desires of ship and navigator flowing together in them. The Mnemosynth has a small on-board arboretum.
