The use of sorcery in information and control systems is standard for skyships. Fighter aircraft design on the other hand has long been dominated by more conventional technologies with only token nods to protocol systems such as their ubiquituous employment in HUDs. With the introduction of the ZIK and its protocol engine however, this paradigm has begun to shift and an increasing number of sorcery derived technologies find their way into fighters and other non-skyship aircraft.
Fighter Avionics Komplex Protocol (FAK-P)
U.R.R.S. (Deck Kaster)
Nonlethal Damage: 1d10
Component Purchase DC: 22
Component Weight: 0.5 kg
Kast Check DC: 24
Kasting Time: 1 full round
Range: Touch
Target: One fighter aircraft equipped with a fly-by-protocol system
Duration: Concentration + (Kast check result) x 1 round
Saving Throw: N/A
Sorcery Resistance: N/A
This series of linked protocols enhances the fly-by-protocol routines of advanced fighter aircraft and allows the pilot, often the sorceress kasting the protocol, to directly interface with her aircraft. The Initiative and Maneuver statistics of the fighter are both increased by +2 and its Defense increased by +1 for the duration of the protocol.
Overkast: Overkasting increases the Initiative and Maneuver bonus by a further +2 and the Defense bonus by a further +1 per grade.
Fly-by-Protocol System
Vehicle Option
A fly-by-protocol system replaces all conventional flight control and power transmission systems in an aircraft with protocol-based systems. This saves weight, reduces vulnerability to damage, and makes the aircraft more responsive.
A fly-by-protocol system can be added to any aircraft other than skyships. A vehicle equipped with a fly-by-protocol system has its Initiative modifier increased by +2.
Adding a fly-by-protocol system increases the vehicle’s Purchase DC by +1.
