Cabal of the Red Lotophages – Homer in Warhammer 40,000

A Reading from Homer by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema
Homer-a-Day, Day 22: Lotophages

Cabal of the Red Lotophages
Even named for the red lotos, the existence of this Dark Eldar cabal’s members revolves around the narcotic and its visionary haze to the exclusion of all else. Far from being a liability, this monomanic worship of the red lotos has proven the cabal’s biggest asset in the constant battle for physical and political survival that is Commorite society. Precisely because they crave the lotos’ embrace, their resourcefullness and brutality when planning and executing raids to collect the living “raw materials” needed to distill the powerful drug knows virtually no limit, and the mere thought of other cabals threatening their supply and forcing them into withdrawal turns them into icily calculating berserker furies the likes of which are hard to find even among the Dark Eldar.

yandere: […] Homer weeks for 40k.
blut_und_glas: […] Homer-a-Day?

Homer-a-Day – one Homer inspired Warhammer 40,000 article per day, for one month. Pure hubris, incited when a stroll through our own archives led first to reexamining the Odysseus Pattern Astartes Greatbow and then to the exchange quoted above.

Don’t uncork what you can’t contain.
