“There are no dumpstats with 3d6 in order.”
This very brief – and very true – contribution of Mad-Kyndalanth to the current German rpg-bloggers’ carnival (still dealing with the topic of “dumpstats”, obviously) sparked the idea for the following little rules’ variation:
Instead of just rolling 3d6 in order, at the very start one ability is declared the dumpstat and another one is declared the keystat.
Then rolling is done in order.
For the dumpstat 4d6, discarding the highest.
For the keystat 4d6, discarding the lowest.
For everything else 3d6.
