Argos Routine – Homer in Warhammer 40,000

A Reading from Homer by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema
Homer-a-Day, Day 26: Argos

Argos Routine
So called Argos routines are sometimes used to prevent tampering with servitors or cyberfamiliars by bond-programming them to a single master. A far cry from mere ‘secure’ command phrases and coded transmitters, true Argos routines use esoteric detection circuitry for mind pattern matching and gene sniffing, frustrating would-be impostors while allowing identification without need for tools on the master’s part and even through illusions and other disguises. Until called up by its authorised master, an Argos routine equipped unit will shut down its higher functions, which makes deprogramming neigh impossible without full replacement of the cortex.

yandere: […] Homer weeks for 40k.
blut_und_glas: […] Homer-a-Day?

Homer-a-Day – one Homer inspired Warhammer 40,000 article per day, for one month. Pure hubris, incited when a stroll through our own archives led first to reexamining the Odysseus Pattern Astartes Greatbow and then to the exchange quoted above.

Don’t uncork what you can’t contain.
