Star Quencher (Supplemental Component)
This component allows a starship’s plasma drives to be completely shut down at a moment’s notice, safely venting their fiery life’s blood into space. While this leaves the ship a cold and dead husk, it prevents its drives from exploding and consuming the vessel entirely. Hope of rekindling the ship’s heart thus survives.
To Kill a Star: Shutting down the plasma drives is an extended action not requiring a test. Once shut down, the drives count as damaged and do not provide any power any longer. The plasma drives can be repaired as normal. While shut down, the plasma drives cannot explode, treat any catastrophic damage plasma drive explosion result as a space hulk result instead.
