Altair (male Expert 1) is obsessed with progress and technology. If it’s new, if it’s foreign, if it came from a factory, then it has to be good. The adolescent collects junk, crafts and tinkers with enough success that he has become accepted as something of a village mechanic.
Safiyyah
Safiyyah (female Nistaani Warrior 1/Vermin Lord 1) is still a child. Years ago, she had to witness her grandmother being killed by a poisonous giant beetle. Despite this, she spends so much time herding and caring for the Susk-dath, that it appears as if she prefers the presence of the giant insects to human company.

Not all the facets of the village and not all of the cracks running through its community are centered around the conflict between the government and the Nasr Kien.
