Forge Domain – a new cleric domain for D&D

Hephaistos, Kagu-tsuchi, Ingerimm – Gods of the forge are not quite as common as hunters. However they often play crucial parts in their respective pantheons.

Forge Domain Spells

Cleric Level Spell
1st Identify, Searing Smite
3rd Heat Metal, Spiritual Weapon
5th Glyph of Warding, Elemental Weapon
7th Fabricate, Fire Shield
9th Creation, Flame Strike

Bonus Cantrip
When you choose this domain at the 1st level, you gain the produce flame cantrip if you don’t already know it. For you, this cantrip counts as a cleric spell.

Master Artisan
Also at 1st level you gain insight into the secrets of craftsmanship. You gain proficiency with an artisan tool of your choice. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make using an artisan tool.

Channel Divinity: Searing Heat
Starting at the 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to gain access to the heavenly furnace. When you roll fire damage, you can use your Channel Divinity to deal maximum damage instead of rolling.

Repair Constructs
Starting at the 6th level, you learn how to repair constructs. When you cast a spell that restores hit points, but has no effect on constructs, you ignore this restriction.

Potent Spellcasting
Starting at the 8th level, you add your Wisdom Modifier to the damage you deal with any cleric cantrips.

Heart of Flame and Steel
Starting at the 17th level, you can’t be charmed or frightend and gain resitance to bludgeoning and fire damage.

  1. Seeing that Wizards now released a playtest version of their take on a forge domain, I find it interesting how very alike the two versions are in a lot of ways and that the main difference seems to come down to prioritising spellcasting (in your version) versus melee (the Wizards version).
