“Love Your Enemy” Reviews’ Week – Part 3: The Red Star

d3
I am not the only one who hates reviews here on the team and so we decided to continue our painful quest together, searching for ways to introduce reviews into The Red Star games.

New Feat
Red Formalist
Red Formalism is the dominant cultural theory as espoused by the Internationalist Party. A character versed in this theory is able to write reviews which highlight the cultural relevance of a work for internatiolism – or its absence.
Prerequisites: Knowledge (art) 6 ranks, Craft (writing) 3 ranks, Allegiance URRS
Effect: The reviews of a Red Formalist give a circumstance bonus to Reputation checks of the reviewed author as long as the character making the check is aware of the review (if it is unclear, whether a character has read the review or not, a Reputation check for the reviewer can be used to determine this). The value of the bonus depends on the quality of the review and thus the result of a Craft (writing) check: +0 for results of 9 or below, +1 for results from 10 to 19, +3 for 20-24, +5 for 25-30, and +7 for 31 and more.
Special: The reviewer’s verdict may also influence whether a character treats the author as famous or as infamous, depending on the characters own views of internationalist cultural policy.

New Feat
Samizdat Reviewer
The character is well read in non-conformist and illegal literature, significantly broadening her education.
Prerequisites: Zek level 1 or Black Market Connections
Effect: Craft (writing) and any two Knowledge skills become permanent class skills for the Samizdat Reviewer.
Special: If a skill is already a class skill, the character instead gains a permanent +1 bonus on Skill checks with that skill.
