Day 8: Freeya

Summer Land
The summer land is a splinter plane of elemental air. An everpresent ocean of clouds towers over a landscape of rolling hills eternally bathed in a mild summer. A colossal silver gate arch connected the summer land to a similar arch on a hilltop in Freeya’s northern ice wastes, with the hill located just south of the border between the eternal ice of the interior wastes and the coastal strip with its slightly more forgiving climate. The so called summer gate used to open on the last day of summer, allowing the tribes of the ice wastes to migrate into the summer land, returning again when the gate would open once more on the last day of winter. During the Draschals’ reign and the dragons’ long sleep the arch on the Freeya side was pulled down and buried and the summer land started to vanish into tribal legend.

Within the cloud ocean lies the old fortress palace of a dynasty of silver dragon, empty and forgotten since the end of the Vermai. The burial of the summer gate goes back to the fight between the guardians and protectors of the sleeping dragons and the bands of murderers sent by their Solokai brethren.
