The Domain of Barar – a new cleric domain for D&D/Freeya

Blicke
Barar, Goddess of the First Circle, Lady of Law and Death, Daughter of Fire and Earth

Barar rules over death, but due to her laws she rules over many lifes as well.

The priests of Barar serve their communities as judges and by holding funeral rites and guarding burial sites. However, they are also feared due to the widely held belief that looking the priests in the eye will kill you.

While Barar thus makes her home in settlements, her freedom-loving brother Valan is always moving between and beyond them. Though very opposed in their world views the two siblings enjoy each others company.

Domain Spells of Barar

Cleric Level Spell
1st False Life, Hellish Rebuke
3rd Arcane Lock, Hold Person
5th Speak with Dead, Vampiric Touch
7th Arcane Eye, Death Ward
9th Geas, Wall of Force

Arbiter of Law
When you choose this domain at 1st level, when you are making an Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma check and the topic is related to law, you may add double your proficiency bonus to that ability check instead of using a skill.

Bonus Proficiency
Also at 1st level, you gain proficiency with heavy armor.

Channel Divinity: The Terror of Death
At the 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to invoke the fear of death in each living or unliving creature. As an action, you can present your holy symbol and each creature that can see you must make a Charisma saving throw. If the creature fails its saving throw, it is turned for 1 minute or until it takes damage.

Death is Untouchable
At the 6th level, whenever you cast Hellish Rebuke you may deal necrotic damage instead of fire damage. If you do so the target must perform a Constitution saving throw, instead of an Dexterity saving throw.
If the target is able to see you, you do not need to perform the verbal component of the spell and the target has disadvantage on the saving throw he or she has to perform.

Divine Strike
At 8th level, you gain the ability to infuse your weapon strikes with divine energy. Once on each of your turns when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can cause the attack to deal an extra 1d8 necrotic damage to the target. When you reach the 14th level the extra damage increases to 2d8.

Barar’s Gaze
At the 17th level, you can cast Power Word Kill without using a spell slot. You cannot do so again until you finish a long rest. You do not need to perform the verbal component of the spell. The target has to be able to see you for you to be able to use this ability.
