Central Infokast Protocol Controller

Protocol Controllers are specially trained and equipped agents of Central Infokast, the agency responsible – amongst other duties – for monitoring and coordinating protocol usage by sorceresses of the Red Fleet Sorcery Corps.

Protocol Controllers are tasked with terminating unsanctioned use of protocols and their proficiency at dismantling sorcerous defenses also makes them highly sought after as support for any group facing sorcery-capable opposition.

Special: Affiliation to Central Infokast or the Kommissariat

Hit Die: 1d8
Action Points: 6 + one-half character level, rounded down, every time the character attains a new level in this class.

Class Features
All of the following are class features of the Central Infokast Protocol Controller advanced class.

Protocol Awareness
Using her permanent transpathic access to Central Infokast databses, a 1st level Central Infokast Protocol Controller can identify protocols kast in her presence, as well as ongoing protocol effects she encounters. Whenever a protocol is kast within line of sight of the Central Infokast Protocol Controller, she is entitled to a Computer Use check. If she beats DC 10, she correctly identifies the branch(es) of sorcery to which the protocol belongs. At DC 15 she identifies the exact protocol. At DC 20 she can also identify if the protocol was overkast (and to what grade) and/or if KPS Safety Wards were disengaged during the kasting. She may take a standard action to make a Computer Use check to likewise identify any protocols which are already in place. The DC to identify the sorcery branch of a protocol using this method is 15. The DC to exactly identify the protocol is 20. Identifyfing the grade of overkasting requires a DC of 25. No further information can be gained. Rechecks are permissible.

Protocol Resistance
Starting at 2nd level, a Central Infokast Protocol Controller gains permanent Protocol Resistance +2. This affects all protcols targeting the Central Infokast Protocol Controller or include her in their area of effect. This Protocol Resistance stacks with any other sources of Protocol Resistance, such as Protocol Resistance Shields. At 4th level, the Central Infokast Protocol Controller’s Protocol Resistance increases to +4, at 6th level to +6, and finally at 8th level to +8.

Protocol Piercing Attacks
A 3rd level Central Infokast Protocol Controller treats all her unarmed attacks as protocol piercing, following the rules given for the Protocol Piercing II ammunition enhancement. Starting at 7th level, this applies to all of her melee attacks. At 9th level and higher, this also applies to all ranged attacks made by the Central Infokast Protocol Controller, as long as the target is within 12m.

Protocol Absorption
Starting at 5th level, whenever a protocol fails because of her Protocol Resistance, the Central Infokast Protocol Controller immediately gains a number of temporary hit points equal to the protocol’s non-lethal damage. These temporary hit points are lost after 24 hours, or as soon as the Central Infokast Protocol Controller is successfully targeted with a protocol (or is within the target area of a successfuly kast protocol), whichever happens first.

Protocol Annihilation
A 10th level Central Infokast Protocol Controller may use a full-round action to cancel all ongoing protocols in a 24m diameter, centered on her. This requires a successful Use Computer check against a DC equal to the highest basic Kast DC of all affected protocols, +2 for every affected protocol beyond the first.
