Planetary Landing Modification (Supplemental Component)
Orbit to surface transport is handled by specialist shuttle and landing craft the Imperium over, with many starships carrying veritable fleets of such auxilliary vessels in their bays, while yet more rise from planetary hives and orbital stations to swarm over them as they approach friendly ports. The great starships thus never need to dare the treacherous gravity chasm or atmospheric storms – and indeed most of them would be unable to do so, only very few starships are strengthened sufficiently to brave a planet’s atmosphere and boast the titanic landing struts and grav compensators to touch down on its surface.

Atmospheric Descent: Landing on a planet requires a Challenging (+0) Pilot (Space Craft)+Manoeuvrability Test. If the test fails the ship takes 1d5 damage to its Hull Integrity and a second Challenging (+0) Pilot (Space Craft)+Manoeuvrability Test must be made. If this second test also fails, the ships crash lands, suffering critical damage in the process.

Direct Access: A landed starships earns the explorers an additional 50 Achievement Points toward completing any objective on the planet in question.

Appropriate Hull Types: Raiders, Frigates
Power: 1
Space: 6
SP: 3
